The small print, in large, plain English.
These are the policies behind our commitments: how we treat the people we work with, our customers and our corner of Sussex. We review them every September.
Our people
A living wage
Everyone we pay regularly for their time earns at least a living wage for where they live. In the UK, that’s the real Living Wage set by the Living Wage Foundation, and we move to each new rate by the following May. For anyone working outside the UK, we use a recognised living-wage figure for their country.
Our drivers are self-employed and paid per job, every week. They keep the large majority of every fare, and we plan work so their earnings for the time spent comfortably exceed the real Living Wage.
Fair hours and terms
Nobody works for us on terms they can’t see. Set hours are agreed in advance, drivers choose which jobs they take, and everyone has their terms in writing: what they do, how they’re paid, and when.
Wellbeing
We plan jobs so drivers get proper rest between shifts and never drive tired. Everyone is trained in safeguarding every year, drivers are first-aid trained, and management is always a phone call away, day or night.
A voice for everyone
We hold a team catch-up every month, where our team and drivers can raise anything about how we work, and we act on what we hear.
Fairness and our planet
Diversity and inclusion
We treat every customer, driver and colleague fairly, whatever their age, disability, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or background. We choose drivers on their licence, experience and conduct, nothing else. We make reasonable adjustments for passengers and colleagues who need them, and offer a female driver on request.
Environment
- Our cars are hybrids.
- Drivers don’t idle the engine while waiting, and we plan routes to save fuel.
- Bookings, payment links and receipts are paperless wherever we can manage it.
- We don’t do short local trips, which keeps empty running down.
- We move to cleaner cars as we replace them.
Paying our fair share of tax
Sussex Airlink pays its tax in full and on time in the UK. We’ll register for VAT when we reach the threshold, and we use no tax avoidance schemes and no offshore arrangements.
Ethical sourcing
We buy locally where we can, from garages, printers and cleaners in Sussex, and choose suppliers who treat their own people fairly. We won’t knowingly work with anyone who uses forced or exploited labour.
Customers and paying on time
Our commitment to you
A fixed fare quoted upfront, a real person on every call and text, a standby driver behind every booking, flights tracked, clean cars, and your details used only for your journey, as our privacy notice explains.
Complaints
Ring 01903 331 333 or email contact@sussexairlink.co.uk. A real person gets back to you within 24 hours, says plainly what happened, and puts it right. We write down every complaint and what we did, and look back over them every month.
Paying promptly
- Drivers are paid every week for the jobs they’ve done.
- Suppliers’ invoices are paid within 30 days, and sooner for small local businesses whenever we can.
- We sign the government’s Prompt Payment Code.
Built for the long run.
